Weeks after releasing an internal memo with his employees discussing internally rebranding the bigger Zomato business (post-acquisition of Blinkit) as “Eternal,” Zomato’s founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal confirmed on Monday that he has no plans to rename the app to “Eternal.”
“If not more, I’m thrilled about carrying on with building Zomato. I consider Zomato my life’s work, and I still have the toughest (and most rewarding) leg of the journey ahead of me. In a letter to the exchanges on Monday, Goyal stated that “this statement does not change anyone’s roles and obligations (including mine) at Zomato.
Zomato, an online meal delivery aggregator, reportedly went to a multiple CEO structure for its businesses earlier this month. These firms will be housed under a larger organisation named Eternal.
Goyal claimed that many people had been confused about the true significance of this announcement since his internal note. One of the inquiries I’ve received from investors lately along these lines has been, ‘What’s the idea behind Eternal?’ Does this imply that you plan to begin stepping back from the company’s day-to-day operations gradually? Is this a strategy for you to eventually go to the hills?” he asked.
Goyal explained why Eternal was necessary and stated that Zomato and Blinkit needed to be ranked equally in the hierarchy of importance. There is NO plan to rebrand the Zomato app to Eternal, and Eternal continues to be an internal identity that unites all of our varied businesses and leaders under a single name and a shared objective. We intend to build each of our companies with a long-term perspective—far beyond our lifetimes.
