The rate of wholesale inflation increased to 14.23 per cent in November 2021 as per the data by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), the wholesale inflation rate in India is maintained for the second continuous month.
“The high rate of inflation is mainly due to increase in rates of mineral oils, basic metals, crude petroleum & natural gas, chemicals and chemical products, food products etc. as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year,” the Ministry of Commerce & Industry said in a statement.
While the WPI inflation rate for all commodities increased by 14.23 per cent, it raised by 39.81 per cent for fuel and power specifically, the government data showed. In October 2021, the wholesale inflation rate for fuel and power came at 37.18 per cent. For food products, the wholesale inflation raised by 6.70 per cent in November, as compared to 3.06 per cent in the previous month.
