IT services major, Wipro Limited has announced on Thursday that it will launch its 5G edge services solutions suite, built with IBM TRIRIGA and IBM Edge Application Manager, as a part of its commitment to lead the 5G technology implementation space and unlock its potential for generating new revenue streams.
Wipro will engage with clients to implement the Universal Edge Solutions suite which is expected to offer customers better data control, faster insights and actions, reduced costs, and more automated, secured operations that will leverage the 5G network capabilities.
Evaristus Mainsah, General Manager, Cloud Pak and Edge Ecosystem, IBM said, “The convergence of 5G and edge computing is set to spark new levels of innovation, and this, in turn, will fuel a broad ecosystem of providers to co-create for a growing set of edge opportunities.” The 5G edge solutions suite will integrate various computing solutions from IBM.
The two companies have recently announced a collaboration to develop hybrid cloud offerings to help businesses to migrate, manage and transform workloads across the public or private cloud. This initiative will help to implement open standards-based cloud-native solutions and managing edge applications autonomously at large scale.
“Our strong telecommunication domain capabilities coupled with leadership in cloud and infrastructure life cycle and investment in the Wipro IBM Novus Lounge equips us well to deliver these industry-specific solutions,” said K.R. Sanjiv, CTO of Wipro.
