On Tuesday, Wipro GE Healthcare and Boston Scientific announced a collaboration to provide end-to-end innovative interventional cardiac care solutions in India. This collaboration is likely to enable easier access to cardiac treatment. It aims to improve heart care for patients, thereby addressing the menace of the disease prevailing in the country.
According to the company, this is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the two MedTech companies in India. Established in 1990, Wipro GE Healthcare Private Limited (WGE) is one of the region’s most successful and longest-running Joint Ventures. It is a Joint Venture between General Electric Company, USA and Wipro Enterprises Limited, India.
The company has stated that cardiology care is still developing in India. Therefore, it is imperative to provide innovative solutions that support reliable and efficient healthcare delivery. The ongoing healthcare situation also demands public-private partnerships (PPP) to connect smaller communities with the larger private tertiary healthcare centres through a hub and spoke model and improve the cardiac care landscape.
Delaware-based Boston Scientific Corporation is a biomedical and biotechnology engineering firm. Founded in 1979, it is a multinational manufacturer of medical devices, including cardiac surgery. Manoj Madhavan, Managing Director of Boston Scientific in India, has said that it’s essential to work with healthcare providers to understand the challenges they face in routine work and provide tailored solutions to manage those challenges. According to him, this collaboration focuses on addressing such issues by providing healthcare professionals expanded access to the latest solutions and technologies to advance patient care.
