Viacom 18 has emerged as the winner of the BCCI’s bilateral media rights for the next 5 years.
The company now has the media rights for the international and domestic matches in India from September 2023 to March 2028, along with the digital rights of IPL (Indian Premier League) and WPL (Women premier League).
The Mukesh Ambani-led Viacom 18 has paid a total of Rs 5,963 crore.
The company has paid Rs 3,101 crore for the digital rights and Rs 2,862 crore for TV rights.
Disney Hotstar, Sony Sports, and Viacom 18 participated in the fray fray for the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) bilateral cricket media rights that were auctioned online on Thursday
The company has been valued at Rs 32,983 crore, after the transaction was concluded.
Reliance now holds a 57.48% stake in the company, whereas Bodhi Tree holds 15.97%, Paramount holds 13.01%, and TV18 holds a 13.54% stake, respectively.
