The United States has announced that it will provide $100 million in civilian security aid to Ukraine to allow its border security, support civil law enforcement functions, and protect critical governmental infrastructure, the US State Department said in a press release. “The US plans to provide an extra $100 million in civilian security assistance to improve the capacity of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs to provide essential border security, sustain civil law enforcement functions, and safeguard critical governmental infrastructure,” the statement read.

The US also said that the allowance would provide personal protection equipment, field gear, tactical equipment, medical supplies, armoured vehicles, and communication equipment for the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service and the National Police of Ukraine. With this aid, Ukrainian law enforcement officers will play an essential role in rescuing citizens of Ukraine from Russia’s brutal attack and providing security to civilian areas torn apart by devastating bombing, the statement added.
