The US government suspended 44 flights from the United States by 4 Chinese carriers in reply to the Chinese government’s decision to suspend US carrier flights due to Covid-19 concerns. The suspensions will start on 30th January, the Transportation Department said. Since 31st Dec 2021, the Chinese government have suspended 20 United Airlines, 10 American Airlines and 14 Delta Air Lines flights after some passengers tested positive for Covid-19. And recently, the Transportation Department said the Chinese government had cancelled more flights.

Liu Pengyu, a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy, said that the decision by the US government was very unreasonable, and we request them not to restrict the normal passenger flights by Chinese airlines. The Transportation Department said that China’s suspension of the 44 flights are against the public interest and warrant proportionate remedial action and that China’s actions against the US carriers are inconsistent with a bilateral agreement.
