New Jersey-headquartered Amneal Pharmaceuticals is set to launch commercial operations to cater to the domestic market in India. It already has a manufacturing and R&D (Research and Development) footprint focused towards exports, with plants in four Indian cities.
For handling India’s commercial operations, the company has roped in Shyamakant Giri as Managing Director and President, India Business and Emerging Markets. Shyamakant Giri is likely to be responsible for Amneal’s commercial expansion and growth in India, Africa, Gulf, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and South Asian markets.
Amneal has had a presence in India since 2008 but focuses on exports from its plants at Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dahej, and Vizag. The company is now entering the domestic market.
Founded by Chirag Patel and Chintu Patel in 2002, Amneal Pharmaceuticals Inc is a publicly traded generics and specialty pharmaceutical company. Chirag Patel and Chintu Patel, co-chief executive officers of Amneal, said they would focus on the Indian market’s unmet needs. Giri said that Amneal would bring access to global quality medical solutions in India.
