UP CM Announces Free AC-III Tier Train Travel for Athletes

The Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanatah has announced free train travel for athletes, showing concern about boosting the sports in the state by promoting sportsmen. On Tuesday, he also announced that the government would reserve two per cent of seats for state sportsmen by giving free tickets for the AC-III tier.

Around  462 members of a team said about ‘teamwork’, the Chief Minister expressed confidence in the excellent performance of all. The government of UP is keen to provide government jobs to sportsmen who bring medals for the state, and recruitment for about 500 such posts has already begun.

Referring to the inauguration of the stadium in Gorakhpur recently, the Chief Minister said that having a stadium was like a distant dream in rural areas. “Today, mini stadiums are being built in villages and cities. Playgrounds and open gyms are being developed in every village. Youth and women are joining the Mangal Dal,” he pointed out.

The CM said about MLA sports competitions, “Soon the state government will organize sports competitions at the village, development block, assembly, district and at the commissioner levels. There will also be a state-level competition between the players of all 18 commissioners, after which players will be awarded.”

This provision will help sport policy which encourages the sports academies as they praise their role in the sports culture. At the start of this month, all the players, team managers and coaches introduced themselves and informed the Chief Minister about their form of sports. He also encouraged Olympic medalist Lalit Kumar Upadhyay and sportspersons Preeti Dubey,  Rohan Vishno, Suraj Kumar and Rajkumar Pal by presenting them ‘with sports kits’.
