Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that India needs to be not reliant on petrol and diesel imports. Speaking at an event, Gadkari regretted that few countries are utilising profits from the sale of gasoline and diesel to fund terrorism. He said, “Green hydrogen is better than petrol and diesel. The transportation sector is observing a big change. We want to make India not dependent on the imports of petrol and diesel but will export fuel.”
By importing petrol and diesel, “We are making countries richer who also fund terrorism”. Gadkari added. However, he didn’t name any country. He further said that the decrease in the imports of petrol and diesel can many problems being faced by the government. He said it is pitiful that India needs to import aluminium and copper even after having a good amount of these metals.

“Economy and environment are necessary, but there is a need to protect environment and ecology, and development and infrastructure work should not be stopped,” he stressed. He also said that in the future, India would need more power as there is a possibility that the economic growth of the country will hasten.
