The United Nations is attempting an aid conference in Geneva to raise over $600 million for Afghanistan. The conference will be accompanied by UN officials, including Guterres, the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer, and other government officials.
About $606 million will be used by the UN World Food Programme, which discovered that 93 per cent of the Afghans were not having sufficient food because they didn’t have the cash to pay for it. “We now must deliver life-saving aid to the Afghan people who need it most,” said WFP deputy regional director Anthea Webb.”
