Twitter will limit the reach of posts from Belarus state media to stop misinformation from Russia’s ally in its invasion of Ukraine, the company said. Twitter has started labelling accounts of state broadcasters and news websites to confirm that the organisations are government-backed. Labelled accounts and their posts are limited in search results and recommendations on Twitter.

Yoel Roth, Twitter’s head of site integrity, said that the company would label about 15 Belurasian outlets. “We have noticed that these outlets and their affiliates in Russia have occupied in the information war and are employing media that are controlling favourable narratives to confuse and distract the public about what is going on,” he said.
