Twitter has launched its first Community in India and the US to bring along cricket fans from the world. ‘The Cricket Twitter – India’ went live on Thursday on Twitter. “We are bringing this test to India with a community that will have conversations of Cricket. Members of Cricket Twitter can have discussions about the topic in multiple Indian languages,” the social giant said.
Twitter started testing the feature as a path for people to find and connect with others who like to talk about the same things. A community is a moderated discussion group where members can tweet to the group instead of their followers. Only community members can reply and join the conversation. However, community pages and timelines are available to read, quote or report.
Joining the community is on an invite-only basis. The moderators pick the focus and create the Community rules. Since Twitter is still testing this feature, community creation is limited. Other communities being tested in the United States are about dogs, weather, sneakers, skincare and astrology.
