Amazon India and TVS Motors said in a joint statement on Wednesday that they have joined forces to enhance electric mobility in the country.
As part of the partnership, a fleet of electric two- and three-wheelers from TVS Motor will be deployed for Amazon’s last-mile deliveries.
In addition, the companies will jointly study electric vehicle use cases across Amazon’s various business units to meet its network and logistics requirements, the statement said.
To test the solution, the two companies will trial TVS Motor’s EV solution through their partner base and delivery partners across India.
TVS Motor is now ready to offer B2B (business-to-business) electric two- and three-wheeler product options, as well as an ecosystem of connected services and alternative ownership.
Abhinav Singh, Director of Customer Fulfillment, Supply Chain and Global Specialty Fulfillment at Amazon India, said the partnership marks another decisive step for the company to achieve its goal of achieving net zero carbon by 2040.
He added that electric mobility is an important part of our business operations and we are firmly committed to transforming our transport network to serve our customers more sustainably.
Singh said the partnership strengthens Amazon India’s delivery network by adding electric two- and three-wheelers to its existing fleet.
He added that this will support our supply chain to minimise the environmental impact of our operations and contribute to Amazon India’s goal of incorporating 10,000 electric vehicles into our fleet by 2025. In 2020, Amazon India announced that it would include 10,000 electric vehicles in its delivery fleet by 2025.
