On Friday, the sectoral regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has made it compulsory for telecom operators to compensate consumers by one rupee for call drops effective from January 1, 2016.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said in a statement that however, the compensation will be limited to three dropped calls in a day.
According to TRAI a message should be sent by the telecom operator through SMS or USSD to the calling customer within four hours of the occurrence of call drop and the details of amount credited in his account.
Whereas for the post paid customers the amount credited should be provided in the next bill.
