On Thursday, the Australian government has reissued an environmental permit to India’s Adani Enterprises for the construction of one of the world’s biggest coal mines.
The Environment Minister Greg Hunt’s decision has opened the way for Adani to proceed with AUD 10 billion (USD 7 billion) project in the undeveloped Galilee Basin which promises to generate billions of dollars in export revenue for Australia.
Hunt said in a statement that “The conditions I have imposed take into account issues raised by the community and ensure that the proponent must meet the highest environmental standards.”
