On Monday, Tata Power Solar Systems said that it had secured a 300 MW solar project worth Rs 1,731 crore from state-owned NHPC. “Tata Power Solar Systems, one of India’s largest integrated solar companies and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has secured an order from NHPC for a 300 MW solar project worth Rs 1,731 crore including taxes”, the company statement said.
According to the statement, the project is located in Rajasthan and will be developed under the CPSU (Central Public Sector Commitment) programme of IREDA (Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency). The project, expected to be completed in 18 months, aims to reduce carbon emissions by around 6,36,960 and is expected to generate about 750 million vehicles per year. Batteries and modules made in India will be used for project installation.

Tata Power Solar has been leading the way in implementing and commissioning such large-scale solar and renewable energy projects. With this win, the company has a backlog of Rs 13,500 crore, and its utility-scale solar project portfolio totals 9.7GWp.
