On 18 October 2022, Tata Motors announced that it won the tender of 200 electric buses floated by Jammu Smart City for Jammu and Srinagar.
The company has introduced a strategic collaboration to deploy e-buses in the twin capital cities of Jammu and Kashmir. The collaboration is a part of an initiative of the Housing and Urban Development Department. To establish a social, financial and environmental sustainable network of public transport for Jammu and Srinagar from the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
Tata Motor will supply 150 units of 9-metre and 50 12-metre Starbus e- buses. Also, to operate and maintain Tata Starbus electric buses for 12 years. Already, Tata Motors has received orders for 1,500 electric buses from Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), 921 electric buses from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and 1,180 electric buses from West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC).
On a consolidated basis, the net loss of Tata Motors reported Rs 5,006.60 crore in the first quarter of FY23, as compared with a net loss of Rs 4,450.92 crore in the first quarter of FY22. Revenue from operations increased 8.3 per cent on a yearly basis to Rs 71,935 crore in the first quarter of FY23. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), shares of Tata Motors were up 0.15 per cent at Rs 404.90.
