Tata Motors Soar as JLR Wholesales Rises 15% YoY in Q3

After the company reported the wholesale growth of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to 79,591 units in the December quarter of FY23 over the December quarter of FY22, Tata Motors surged 6.32% to Rs 414.

The production ramp-up of New Range Rover Sport and New Range Rover continued with 27,456 units wholesale, up from 13,537 in Q2. In Q3FY23, retail sales were 84,827 units, up 5.9% YoY but down 3.7% QoQ.

At the end of last month,  the client increased the total order book to 215,000, up to around 10,000 orders from September. Demand for the New Range Rover Sport, New Range Rover and Defender remains the same, representing 74% of book orders. Also, the company completed a renewal of its undrawn revolving credit facility with 23 banks at Euro 1.45 billion, having a maturity date of April 2026 from March 2024.

Meanwhile, the Tata Motors Group’s global wholesales in the October-December quarter of FY23, including JLR, were at 3,22,556 units, going up by 13% compared to the October-December quarter of FY22.

The wholesales for Jaguar Land Rover were 92,345 vehicles (JLR number for the October-December quarter of FY23 includes CJLR volumes of 12,754 units). Jaguar had 16,275 vehicles, while Land Rover had 76,070 for the Q3FY23.

Tata group manufactures utility vehicles, pick-ups, cars, buses and trucks globally and is a part of Tata Motors.

On a consolidated basis, the net loss of Rs 944.61 crore in the July-September quarter of  FY23 is against Rs 4,441.57 crore in the July-September quarter of FY22. Net sales rose 30.5% to Rs 78,846.92 crore in the July-September quarter of FY23 compared to Rs 60,435.92 crore in the July-September quarter of FY22.
