Stocks in Focus: IRCTC, Power Grid Corporation, Apollo Tyres and Others

The GIFT Nifty futures were trading in the green before the market’s opening on Wednesday. Indices are expected to open on a similar positive note.

Domestic benchmark indices, NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex, ended flattish on the Tuesday session. Both Nifty and Sensex slipped nearly 0.03% to settle at 19,406.70 and 64,942.40, respectively. 

Here are some stocks to watch on November 8.

Apollo Tyres: In the second quarter, Apollo Tyres reported that its consolidated profit more than doubled to Rs 474 crore for the quarter ended September 2023, compared to Rs 179 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose over 5% YoY to Rs 628 crore. The company showcased good operational performance, with EBITDA and margins surpassing estimates. 

Prestige Estates: For the September 2023 quarter, Prestige Estates posted its highest-ever quarterly sales. The company’s profit increased six-fold, driven by a 57% YoY increase in revenue during the period. 

Power Grid Corporation of India: The utility company recorded a nearly 4% rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 3,781.42 crore in the second quarter of FY24, compared to Rs 3,650.29 crore in Q2FY23. Total income increased to Rs 11,530.43 crore in the quarter from Rs 11,349.44 crore in the same period a year ago. 

SJVN: The company has received a Letter of Intent from Uttarakhand Power Corporation for purchasing 200 MW of solar power at a tariff of Rs 2.57 per unit from its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Project. The solar project is being developed through SJVN Green Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company in Rajasthan under the CPSU Scheme. 

IRCTC: The railway’s e-ticketing and catering arm reported net profit soaring 30.4% year-on-year in the second quarter to Rs 294.68 crore, compared to Rs 226.03 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. Total income increased by 25.3% YoY to Rs 1,042.39 crore.

Trent: The Tata-owned company reported second-quarter profit for the financial year 2023-24 at Rs 234.73 crore, up 152.3% compared to Rs 93.02 crore during the same period last year. It posted revenue from operations at Rs 2,982.42 crore, up 52.7% against Rs 1,952.74 crore during the second quarter of FY23.
