The GIFT Nifty futures, which is an early indicator of the Nifty50 index, were trading 1% lower by 245 points at 24,140, indicating that the domestic benchmark indices are likely to make a negative start on Thursday.
On Wednesday, 7 August, Domestic benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex soared 874.94 points or 1.11%, to end at 79,468.01 while the Nifty50 traded 304.95 points or 1.27% higher and settled at 24,297.50.

Quarterly Results Today: Oil India, Bharat Forge, Biocon, Bajel Projects, Gujarat State Petronet, IRCON International, Eicher Motors, Life Insurance Corporation of India, ABB India, Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Astral, AstraZeneca Pharma, Minda Corporation, MRF, Page Industries, Rail Vikas Nigam, Sobha, Unichem Laboratories, Va Tech Wabag, Steel Authority of India, and Sobha are some of the prominent companies that are set to release their quarterly earnings for April-June.
Apollo Tyres: In its quarterly earnings for April-June quarter, the company reported a 24% year-on-year decline in net profit to Rs 302 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 397 crore reported in the same quarter last year.
NHPC: The hydropower giant, in its quarterly earnings for April-June, reported a 1.2% YoY increase in net profit of Rs 1,108.5 crore compared to Rs 1,095 crore in the same quarter last year.
Godrej Consumer Products: The FMCG giant reported its net profit at Rs 450.69 crore for the Q1FY25, marking a 41.36% YoY increase from Rs 318.82 crore reported during the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
Hindalco Industries: The subsidiary of the company, Novelis Inc, reported a 2% YoY jump in net sales during the quarter ended 30 June to $4.2 billion, which was primarily driven by higher average aluminium prices and total shipments.
Marico: The company’s operations in Bangladesh are gradually improving with most of its retail sales force and distributors have resumed operations. However, they continue to monitor the ongoing situation and anticipate that manufacturing operations will resume soon.
UPL: The High Court of Australia has dismissed the appeal and ruled in favour of Advanta, a subsidiary of UPL in Australia.
Maruti Suzuki India: The company has recalled 2,555 Alto K10 cars due to an alleged defect in the steering-gear box assembly.
TVS Supply Chain Solutions: The company has announced that it is securing a new three-year business contract from JCB in India to handle n-plant warehousing and logistics operations at JCB’s Vadodara facility.
Welspun Corp: The company reported a 50% YoY increase in net profit to Rsa 248.2 crore for the quarter ended 30 June compared to Rs 165 crore reported in the same quarter last year.
