Ukraine’s top mobile operator, Kyivstar, has partnered with Starlink to bring direct-to-cell satellite connectivity to the country, according to VEON, Kyivstar’s parent company.

Direct-to-cell services use satellites to beam phone signals directly to smartphones, offering seamless connectivity.

Ukraine is set to be among the first countries to benefit from Starlink’s cutting-edge technology.

As stated in a joint announcement, Kyivstar expects messaging functionality for direct-to-cell services to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2025.

Starlink, owned by SpaceX, already provides vital internet services to Ukraine, including its military, and launched its first satellites with direct-to-cell capabilities earlier this year.
