On Thursday, the world’s largest coffee corporation, Starbucks, said that Laxman Narasimhan, of Indian descent, has been named the organisation’s next CEO. According to media reports, he will start working for Starbucks on October 1 and succeed Howard Schultz, who will serve as acting CEO until April 2023.

The UK-based Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC, which manufactures Lysol and Enfamil infant formula, is led by the 55-year-old Indian Narasimhan.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Starbucks chairperson Mellody Hobson stated that the business had selected an extraordinary person to serve as its next CEO since Narasimhan is a proven executive.

According to the corporation, the new CEO will move to the Seattle area from London and start working for Starbucks on October 1. According to the firm, the new CEO will join Starbucks on October 1 after relocating from London to Seattle.

“To help the future CEO, we have asked Schultz to serve as interim CEO till April 2023. On April 1, Narasimhan will take over as CEO. He will assume control of several locations and sales for the biggest coffee chain in the world, “Hobson was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as having added.

Howard Schultz visited Buffalo, New York, in November of last year to deliver a message to workers debating unionising: Starbucks will do the most excellent job protecting workers’ rights.

To achieve its growth objectives, Starbucks required more employees. By the decade’s end, the firm intends to open more than 20,000 cafés worldwide. Additionally, it needs to boost confidence among stockholders. Starbucks stock, behind other restaurant industry shares in recent months, increased around 8% since Schultz’s comeback was announced last year.

Schultz shaped Starbucks’ image and customer experience after purchasing the neighbourhood Starbucks coffee shop in 1987. He created its cafes as a place to linger over espressos and lattes. According to Schultz, he also contributed to creating the company’s benefits programme for its baristas and other employees, which covers the cost of employee healthcare, paid time off, and benefits for those putting in at least 20 hours per week.
