Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno will visit India on Wednesday to focus on deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, climate change and scientific innovation.
Albares plans to hold extensive talks with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The Ukraine crisis is likely to emerge in the negotiations. “Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Jose Manuel Albares Bueno will pay an official visit to India on June 15,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) said.
Albares’s visit will be an “opportunity to take a comprehensive look at bilateral relations and further deepen partnerships in various fields, including trade, defence, science and technology, innovation, climate and culture,” the statement said. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Spain in 2017, bilateral relations received a new boost, MEA said in a statement.
