Second Batch of Rafale Fighter Jets to Reach India Today

The production of LCA Mark-1A planes is likely to be completed by 2032.

On Wednesday, the second batch of three Rafale fighter jets would reach India for boosting capabilities of the Indian Air Force (IAF)
Today morning, the aircrafts have taken off from France and would directly arrive at Jamnagar airbase in Gujarat by evening, the source said. The jets arriving will add more strength to the IAF that has already deployed the Rafale jets in operational role in conflict areas, it added.
The first batch of five Rafale fighter jets have officially inducted into the IAF on September 10. The aircrafts was landed at Ambala Airbase as a part of No 17 Squadron, which is also recognized as the “Golden Arrows”.
With the induction of second batch of Rafale, the IAF would have a total of eight fighter jets, which will be operationalised within a few days. The jets have already been in operational roles and have also been deployed in the conflict zone of Ladakh for short duration of time.
In 2016, the NDA government has inked an inter-governmental agreement with France to supply 36 of the multi-role aircraft to the Indian Air Force by mid-2022 under a Rs 60,000 crore.
