Around 50,000 employees of five associate banks of State Bank of India have gone on a day-long nationwide strike today for protesting the proposed merger with their parent bank.
The employees are protesting under the banner of All India Bank Employees Association.
A statement issued by the Union said that “We are protesting against the plan of SBI management to merge 5 large associate banks into it.”
There are five associate banks of SBI that includes State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore.
