Footage released overnight showed Russian military vehicles heading towards Ukraine’s border. Russia said the troops would be for peacekeeping in the breakaway regions. But the United States noted calling them peacekeepers was nonsense. It accused Russia of creating an excuse for war. Ukraine’s President said that the country is not afraid of anything or anyone.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called for “clear and effective actions of support from its allies. It is essential to see now who our real friend and partner is, and who will continue to scare the Russian Federation with words only,” he added. Several countries are thinking to introduce new sanctions against Russia in response to the attack. Fears over an invasion have been growing in recent months, as Russia has placed over 150,000 troops along Ukraine’s borders.
