Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arm of the Mukesh Ambani-led Conglomerate Reliance Industries, on Wednesday, announced its plans to expand its consumer packaged goods brand ‘Independence’ to North India.
The brand, first launched in Gujarat, offers products ranging from staples to processed foods and other essentials. Independence products will now be available in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Bihar.
The brand aims to fill the gap in the market for a dependable consumer goods brand that offers a wide range of locally developed, high-quality products at affordable prices, RCPL said. It competes with Adani Wilmar’s Fortune, Marico’s Saffola and Patanjali Foods’ Nutrela.
The company also plans to expand its distribution network through online and offline channels in the coming months, reaching more consumers nationwide. It is collaborating with trade partners, including manufacturers and Kirana stores, in what they claim is to provide them with improved business opportunities.
The company’s FMCG portfolio comprises brands like Sosyo Hajoori, Lotus Chocolates confectionary range, and Sri Lanka’s leading biscuit brand Maliban.
