Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he is ready to be arrested by Mizoram Police to bring peace between Mizoram and Assam. The chief minister said while speaking to reporters that he will not apply for bail to avoid any arrest by Mizoram Police. The statement came after Mizoram Chief Secretary said that the state’s CM had charges of attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy levelled against his counterpart. These are likely to be withdrawn.
“If arresting me brings the situation back to normal, I am ready for it. I will not seek bail from Gauhati High Court,” Assam CM Sarma said. However, Sarma said he will protect his officers and will not “allow Mizoram police to investigated an incident which occurred in Assam.”
