On Thursday afternoon session, telecom shares were trading with gains; were shares of Reliance Communications was up by 5 per cent, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam up by 2.84 per cent, GTL up by 4.96 per cent and Vodafone Idea up by 1.71 per cent. These shares were trading high.
Whereas, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) was up by 0.85 per cent, Bharti Infratel up by 1.49 per cent and Sterlite Technologies up by 0.83 per cent. These shares also traded with gains on indexes.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 168.27 points at 39,760.35 while NSE Nifty50 index was up 49.65 points at 11,897.20.
The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.08 per cent up at 992.67 around 11:55 am.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 34 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.
