Shares of RailTel Corporation of India climbed over 5% in the early trading session on Wednesday after the telecom company announced that it received a Rs 140 crore work order from Prasar Bharati Broadcasting for an OTT platform.
RailTel’s shares hit an intraday high of Rs 385.50, 5.18% higher than its previous closing price on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). At 12:30 pm, the stock was trading 2.05% higher at Rs 374.00.
According to the company’s exchange filing dated February 13, Railtel received a work order from Prasar Bharati Broadcasting Corporation of India worth Rs 139.73 crore, including tax, for designing, developing, operating, and maintaining an OTT platform.
The work order is expected to be finished by December 11, 2024.
RailTel Corporation is a telecom infrastructure provider with a pan-India optic fibre network on a railway track’s right of way (ROW).
Earlier last week, Railtel bagged a Rs 18.21 crore order from the Ministry of Defence for laying OFC cable and maintaining it for a period of three years.
