Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak today at the first Arun Jaitley Memorial Speech. Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam will deliver on the theme “Growth through Inclusivity, Inclusivity Through Growth” keynote speech.
The event will include a panel discussion between OECD Secretary-General Matthias Cormann and Columbia University professor Arvind Panagariya.
The PMO said the Ministry of Finance organised the lecture recognising Jaitley’s valuable contribution to the country. A key BJP official, Jaitley was the finance minister in Modi’s first government.

During the event, Modi will also interact with delegates attending the three-day Kautilya Economic Conference (KEC), which will be held from July 8 to 10.
Economists Modi will meet include Anne Kruger of Johns Hopkins University, Nicholas Stern of the London School of Economics, Robert Lawrence of Harvard Kennedy School, John Lipsky, the former managing director of the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank India Country Director Junaid Ahmed among others.
It said the KEC was organised by the Economic Growth Institute with the support of the Ministry of Finance.
