PM Modi will meet with 19 economists and thinkers at Niti Aayog.

Ahead of the 2025-26 Budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with economists to gather suggestions on sustaining economic growth amid global uncertainties.

PM Modi will meet with 19 economists and thinkers at Niti Aayog ahead of the 2025-26 Budget to discuss strategies for sustaining economic growth amid global challenges, including supply chain disruptions caused by conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Key topics will include employment generation, addressing skill gaps, boosting agriculture, enhancing manufacturing and MSMEs, managing energy security, and balancing rural-urban development.

Modi is expected to outline priorities for transitioning India into a developed nation by 2047, emphasizing high-quality capital expenditure, innovation, and R&D.

India’s GDP grew 5.4% in Q2FY25, the lowest in seven quarters, sparking concerns about FY25 growth possibly falling below 6.5%. The government views this as a temporary dip, expecting improvement in upcoming quarters.

Post-COVID, the Centre’s capital expenditure strategy has grown by 30% annually between FY22 and FY24, with FY24 reaching 3% of GDP. FY25’s capex target is Rs 11.11 lakh crore, a 17% rise from FY24.

Analysts recommend boosting credit for informal micro-enterprises and exports from rural areas to drive sustainable rural demand.

The 2025-26 Budget is expected to introduce new measures for the manufacturing sector, MSMEs, and job creation to sustain growth momentum.
