Prime Minister Narendra Modi will, on May 31, release the 11th instalment of Rs 21,000 crore financial benefits to more than ten crore farmers in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) project.
Modi will also interact via video conference with beneficiaries of 16 programmes and programmes implemented by nine central ministries as part of the “Garib Kalyan Sammelan” national campaign, the agriculture ministry said in a statement.
The nationwide event is organised under the year-long “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebration. “The PM will release the 11th phase of the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme worth Rs 21,000 crore,” the statement said. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will join the scheme from the Pusa complex in Delhi.
Under PM-KISAN, an annual financial benefit of Rs 6,000 is provided to eligible farmer families in three equal payments of Rs 2,000. Funds are transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account. On January 1, the Prime Minister issued the tenth instalment of more than Rs 20,000 crore to more than ten crore farmers.
According to the ministry, it will be the most crucial plan the country has ever seen. All districts will be subject to a national review, during which the PM will discuss with beneficiaries how several central plans will affect their lives.
Centre projects include PM-KISAN, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission (rural and urban), Jal Jeevan Mission and AMRUT.
It also includes Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, One Nation-One Ration Card, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. Under the two-phase plan, state, district and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) level functions will begin at 9.45 am and be linked to the national level plan around 11 am.
The national programme will be broadcast live on Doordarshan’s national and regional channels. The national programme will also be a webcast via MyGov, where people can sign up. It can also be viewed through other social media channels such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
