Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet the chief of three services of India – Army, Navy, and Air Force over the recently announced Agnipath scheme.

The short-term recruitment plan for the centre’s armed forces sparked widespread protests ahead of PM Modi’s meeting with department heads.

Regarding the Agnipath scheme, PM said on Monday that some of the decisions “may seem unfair” at first but will help nation-building later.

On Sunday, the three service chiefs unveiled a broad recruitment schedule under the Agnipath scheme, warning those indulging in violence and arson would not be called up to the military. The Army said that soldiers enlisting under the draft plan would begin next month.
