PM Modi to Meet 15+ CEOs, Including Sundar Pichai, Tim Cook and Satya Nadella, During His First State Visit

PM Modi to meet 15-20 CEOs in Washington during his state visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet 15-20 Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of US companies, including top tech leaders in Washington, for three out of the four days of his state visit.

On the first day of his visit, he met Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to discuss issues ranging from “energy to spirituality”. After the meeting, Musk revealed that he plans to travel to India in 2024 and confirmed that Tesla will invest in India.

On June 21, back-to-back meetings were scheduled, including Applied Materials President and CEO Gary Dickerson and Micton Technologies President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Modi first met Gary and invited his company to contribute towards strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and develop process technology and advanced packaging capabilities.

Then the PM met the CEO of General Electric, Lawrence Culp Jr., and the two discussed the company’s greater technology collaboration to promote manufacturing in India. Later in the day, Modi also met Mehrotra in Washington DC, inviting Micron Technology to manufacture semiconductors in India, the Ministry of External Affairs said.

PM Modi will address the US Congress on Thursday and attend a state dinner at the White House hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. Although this marks his sixth trip to the country since coming to power in May 2014, this is his first state visit.

As per CNBC reports, the Thursday dinner is rumoured to occur at the White House, where PM Modi would meet more tech CEOs, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam.

The CNBC report reveals that PM Modi will also host a meeting with tech leaders on Friday to discuss technology transfer and ways to move away from China.
