PM Modi to Inaugurate Deoghar Airport, AIIMS During His Jharkhand Visit Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing for his Bihar-Jharkhand visit on Tuesday and will unveil development projects worth over Rs 16,800 crore at Deoghar, including the inauguration of an airport, for which the PM laid the foundation stone in Jharkhand on May 25, 2018. Significantly, Deoghar Airport will be the second international airport in Jharkhand after Ranchi.

According to a press release issued by the PMO last week, the construction cost of the long-awaited Deoghar Airport is estimated to be around Rs 400 crore. Additionally, during the visit, the PM will provide In-Patient Department (IPD) and Operation Theatre services to the state at AIIMS in Deoghar. The PM laid the foundation of AIIMS Deoghar on May 25, 2018. The new AIIMS in Deoghar will serve the dual purpose of providing ultra-speciality healthcare to the population, while also helping to train many doctors and other health workers in the region.

The PM will unveil and lay the foundation stone for developments worth more than Rs 16,800 crore in Deoghar on Tuesday afternoon. Around 2.20 pm, he will perform the Darshan and Puja at Baba Baidyanath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. At around 6 pm, the PM will speak at the closing ceremony of Bihar’s Legislative Assembly Centennial Celebration in Patna.

Deoghar Airport will provide a direct connection to Baba Baidyanath Dham. The construction cost of Deoghar Airport is estimated to be around Rs 400 crore rupees. The equipment at the airport terminal can handle more than 5 lakh passengers per year.

AIIMS Deoghar is a boon for the healthcare industry in the region. AIIMS Deoghar services will be further enhanced with the establishment of the AIIMS Deoghar In-Patient Department (IPD) and Operation Theatre Services. This aligns with the PM’s vision to develop quality medical facilities nationwide.

Projects initiated by the PM include the development of two large pilgrimage halls with a capacity of 2,000 pilgrims, the Jalsar Lakefront development and the Shivganga Pond development, among others. The new facility will further enrich the travel experience of the 1 lakh devotees who visit Baba Baidyanath Dham. The PM will unveil and lay the cornerstones of several road projects worth more than Rs 10,000 crore. He will initiate and lay the cornerstones of the region’s energy infrastructure projects of around Rs 3,000 crore.
