On June 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a unified portal for the government’s credit-linked scheme to improve the convenience of citizens’ lives.

The so-called Jan Samarth Portal will serve as a single platform for loan application and processing. According to the Ministry of Finance, 13 projects and more than 125 lenders have joined the portal. The portal can be used to provide loans for education, agricultural infrastructure, business activities and livelihood opportunities.

According to its website, major state-owned lenders such as the State Bank of India and large private lenders are part of the scheme.
