On Monday, Opposition Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha filed his nomination papers in Parliament. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar flanked him.
Leaders including Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh accompanied him to submit the nomination. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav and RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary were also present.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President and Minister KT Rama Rao also participated in the nomination. Apart from Rama Rao, son of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (also known as KCR), some TRS MPs were also present.
Parties supporting the Sinha candidacy include TMC, Congress, CPI, Shiv Sena, NCP, SP, DMK, RJD, NC, AIUDF, NCP, RLD, PDP and AIMIM.
Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha (84) has been chosen unanimously for the upcoming Presidential election on July 18, 2022.
