The total number of companies that are registered in the country increased to more than 15.27 lakh in January whereas among them only 10.76 lakh were active ones.

According to the latest data provided by the Corporate Affairs Ministry, there were as many as 15.27 lakh registered companies at the end of January, with majority of them from the private sector.

Among them only around 10.76 lakh companies were active, while the count of closed entities stood at 2.83 lakh last month.
