In the morning trade, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, fell 0.05 per cent to 48,412.35. The Nifty 50 index was down 1.65 points or 0.01 per cent at 14,197.85.
The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was up 0.72 per cent, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up at 0.64 per cent.

On the BSE, 1753 shares rose, and 873 shares fell. A total of 133 shares were unchanged.
The Nifty PSU Bank index added 1.93 per cent to 1,866.75 in the fourth quarter. The index has surged 6.5 per cent in four trading sessions.
The top PSU Bank gainer named Bank of India, up 3.26 per cent, Bank of Baroda, up 2.52 per cent, SBI, up 2.4 per cent, Indian Bank, up 2.16 per cent, UCO Bank, up 1.53 per cent, PNB up 1.4 cent, Union Bank of India up 1.25 per cent, Canara Bank up 1.18 per cent and J&K Bank up 0.82 per cent.
