Zomato– India’s most-used food directory was originally launched at the peak of the Indian start-up boom.
The food delivery start-up is India’s largest restaurant search. Earlier this week, Zomato announced that it has broken even in several big markets including India and they hit profitability. In 2015 under the E-commerce start-ups in the food delivery segment, some food start-ups have shut down entirely and others have been acquired. Zomato too scaled back in four Indian cities and has laid off a few hundred employees in last year. The company axes around 100 employees in a cost-cutting drive. Zomato also confirmed the development. In its current customer support workforce, it is said that the lay-offs were carried out due to redundancies.
Zomato had earlier 10% of its staff due to cost-cutting or laid-off close to 300 employees. After-sales services on each food order Zomato currently spend anywhere 4- 5 per order on customer support.
