Wholesale inflation for May grew at 4.43%, making it the highest in the past 5 months.

WPI saw a growth of 3.18% in April and 2.26% in May 2017. Primary articles, grew 3.16% in May from (-)1.71% a year ago and 1.41% in April. Vegetables prices grew 2.51% in May, as against a fall of 0.89% in April and (-)18.37% a year ago.

Prices of pulses continued to decline for over a year now, with rate of decline relatively slowing at (-)21.13% in May, as compared with a de-growth of (-)22.46% in April and (-)19.67% a year ago.

Fuel and power inflation, whose weightage in WPI is of 13.15%, grew at 11.22% in May from 7.85% in April, and 11.81% a year ago.
