Trident has got environment clearance to expand its paper mill with improved technology and energy efficiency in Punjab’s Barnala district, entailing a cost of Rs 440 crore.
The company was established in 1993 and has proposed up gradation of paper machines for increasing production of paper from 1,35,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) to 2,10,000 TPA and increase captive co-generation plant from 45.9 MW to 90.9 MW.
A senior government official has said that “Based on the recommendations of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), the Environment Ministry has given environment clearance to the Trident Ltd for its paper mill expansion project.”
