The price of the domestic cooking gas (LPG) dropped by Rs 5.91 per cylinder, posting the second straight reduction within a month because of tax impact on reduced market fuel rate. Indian Oil Corp (IOC) in a statement said that a 14.2-kg subsidised LPG cylinder will cost Rs 494.99 in the national capital from midnight tonight as against Rs 500.90 currently.
In the previous month, on 1 December, subsidised LPG price was decreased by Rs 6.52 per cylinder. IOC also stated that the price of non-subsidised or market priced LPG witnessed a steep Rs 120.50 per cylinder due to fall in the price of LPG in the international market and strengthening of US dollar-rupee exchange rate.
The non-subsidised LPG cylinder will now bear the cost of Rs 689 per 14.2-kg cylinder in Delhi. In the previous month, the non-subsidised LPG was cut by Rs 133 per bottle. The government still provide subsidies for 12 cylinders of 14.2-kg each per households, wherein the consumers have to buy the fuel at market price and the subsidy amount directly deposited in users bank accounts.
