Tata Motors launched their much awaited mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) in India. The Tata Harrier, which is going to compete against the like of Mahindra’s XUV 500, Hyundai Creta and others, is introduced with the price tag of Rs 12.69 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
The 5 seater Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel Kryotec engine that generates a total of 140 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, front wheel drive.
According to Tata, the architecture of the SUV is derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform found in the Discovery Sport. Coming to the safety features, Tata Harrier comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-road assistance and traction control.
Some of the key premium features that the SUV’s top variant houses are 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a JBL sound system, reverse camera, another 7.0-inches instrument cluster screen, automatic climate control and cruise control. The Harrier also has a boot space of 425-litres and a fuel tank capacity of 50 litres.
