Indian equities gained for the first time in four days on Friday tracking Asian markets. At 09.30 am, BSE Sensex was 153.32 points or 0.37 per cent higher at 41317.08. The Nifty 50 gained 41.10 points or 0.34 per cent at 12167.65. Asian markets were trading higher. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.04 per cent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index 1.14 per cent, and China’s Shanghai Composite index rose 0.85 per cent.
The BSE Midcap and BSE Smallcap rose around 0.5 per cent each. On Nifty, 14 shares advanced and 36 declined. Among sectoral indices, BSE Telecom was the biggest gainer, up 0.62 per cent, followed by BSE Bankex 0.56 per cent and BSE Energy index 0.54 per cent. However, the BSE IT index lost 0.17 per cent and BSE Teck lost 0.04 per cent.
Allahabad Bank gained 8.2 per cent to Rs 19.20 as the government will infuse fresh capital amounting to Rs 2,153 crore in the bank. The capital infusion will take place via preferential allotment of equity shares during the current fiscal. HG Infra Engineering gained 7.8 per cent to Rs 262.70 as the company was declared L-1 bidder by the National Highways Authority of India for the project construction of proposed Rewari Bypass (NH-11) as feeder route in Rewari district of Haryana on hybrid annuity mode with an amount of Rs 522.02 crore.
