The benchmark BSE sensex ended on a lower note at 26,370.98, down 469.52 points.

Nifty closed below its psychological level of 8,000 at 7,965.35, down 159.10 points.

Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Cipla,Tata Power and Reliance were the big losers in Sensex.

Overall the market remained weak on BSE as 783 stocks ended with gains whereas 1,856 closed with losses.

In Nifty only four out of 50 stocks stood as gainers.
