In the early trade on Monday, the rupee falls 24 paise at 63.88 against the US dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on account of continued demand for the American currency from importers.
According to the Forex dealers besides the sustained demand for the dollar in view of the approaching month-end, weakness in the euro against the American currency overseas amid growing concerns of a Greece debt default and a possible euro zone exit weighed.
They also added that a lowering opening in the domestic equities kept up pressure on the rupee.
