To ease the e-verification process of income tax returns (ITR), the Income Tax department has now launched a new facility on its e-filing portal. Taxpayers can e-verify their ITR without even logging in to the e-filing website.
Here’s the complete process:
On the homepage, there is a new option of ‘e-verify return’ under ‘Quick Links’ for Income Tax e-filing on the website. Clicking on it will take you to the new e-verification page then you can verify ITR by simply entering PAN, mentioning the assessment year and acknowledgment number mentioned in the ITR-V form. Once ITR is submitted, it is mandatory to verify it within 120 days it can be done even after August 31, the last day of filing ITR. In case if it can forget to verify ITR then it will not be processed and fine is to be charged for not filing ITR. Once ITR is submitted then ITR-V form can be downloaded from the e-filing website.
By using internet banking for the e-filing portal has a section called ‘e-verify return’ under the ‘My Account’ menu. Other than net banking e-verify return should b done by registered phone number with the bank or Demat account, but need to pre-validate bank or Demat account number after that go to ‘profile setting’ and choose your bank or Demat account you want to pre-validate. However, it is mandatory to link the bank account in which e-refund with that of your PAN card. Refunds are being issued electronically only now.
